Connecticut Nursing Home Statistics

Posted by John Sweeney | Jul 02, 2014 | 0 Comments

In Connecticut, a Nursing home runs you about $12K if you private pay (more like $15K in Fairfield County).  If you are on Medicaid, the state pays the nursing home only about $7K.

This is why the nursing home operators will do everything they can to keep you paying privately.

Connecticut's total Medicaid costs in 2013 were $1.2B.

In 2013, 70% of the nursing home patients were on Medicaid, 11% were private pay and 13% were Medicare.

The Medicaid application is a 21 page monstrosity requiring 5 years of bank account statements with details of any transfer over $5K.
