Connecticut Estate Tax

Posted by John Sweeney | Nov 02, 2017 | 0 Comments

The new Budget which was passed on 10-31-17 changed Connecticut Estate Taxes.  Previously, Connecticut Estate Tax started when assets were over $2M and the federal amount was $5.49M.    With rates up to 12%, the Connecticut tax was material.  However, Connecticut has just equalized the Estate Tax with the federal tax over the next three years, starting with estates after 1-1-18.  This change will help the "smaller" taxpayers and help Connecticut retain its retirees.
